The site has developed into a cross between a nature reserve and Crufts.

There are some excellent-looking wader pools near the Crookham common entrance and a few good waders have turned up here (Pec sand in 2011) but as dogs frequently charge through the pools you have to get there early ...

The site kept its stock of dartfords when other sits lost most in the two hard winters of 2009/10. These are all over the common.

Migration sees wheatears, whinchats and pied flycatchers as well as the odd RB shrike. Bee-eaters have been reported as fly-overs...
