Bury Down

The poor partridge looked like being the sparrowhawk's "full English" at Bury Down

While watching it a tractor went past and except for half a dozen feathers neither bird could be located. It may be that the prey got away ...

This pair had been calling and flying about like mad for an hour or so before they came to "mate" in front of the screen (beside the locked hide on Colebrook lake)
There always seem to be redshanks calling about madly at this time of the year but rarely offer much evidence of breeding

Last April, there were four pairs at DW but no young birds were seen
